What Is Overactive Bladder (OAB)?
Overactive bladder (OAB) is a common urological condition characterized by a sudden and uncontrollable urge to urinate.
It can lead to frequent urination, often accompanied by urinary incontinence (leakage of urine). OAB occurs when the bladder muscles contract involuntarily, causing a sense of urgency and an inability to control the urge to urinate.
When diagnosing overactive bladder, your doctor will look at your medical history, do a physical exam to check for infections or other problems, do a urine test, and might do some tests to see how your bladder is working. This is all to figure out what’s causing your symptoms.
